(11 of 33) Enamel Present at Birth This is the amount of enamel present in a molar at birth (you are looking at the occlusal surface). The neonatal line is actually not a line but a layer. It would conform with the surface of the mineralized enamel of the tooth. The enamel deposited after birth is applied layer by layer on top of the enamel seen in the picture. In addition, each layer would extend just a little further cervically than the preced-ing one until crown formation stopped. |
