(28 of 33) Coronal Section Through Enamel This is a section through enamel near the D-E junction. Note how groups of enamel rods (A and B) alternate in direction. It is this arrangement of groups of enamel rods that is reflected in the Hunter-Schreger bands. Group A is oriented so that you can roughly determine the key-hole configur-ation (rods cut in cross-section). Group B on the other hand, has the enamel rods cut oblique to long-itudinally.
