Mike
Gunter is ABD with areas of concentration in policy studies and transnational
relations as well as specific research interests in environmental politics.
He holds a M.A. (1998) and interdisciplinary Environmental Systems Certificate
(1998) from the University of Kentucky and a B.A. (1991) in political
science from Vanderbilt University. Gunter is currently writing his dissertation,
titled "Building the Next Ark: NGO Strategies in Protecting International
Biodiversity." It examines the effectiveness of the strategies NGOs utilize
in attempting to shape U.S. policy on international biodiversity protection.
Gunter also is assisting in an ongoing grant from the EPA and National
Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration that seeks
to improve small community participation in the environmental regulation
process. Teaching experience includes courses on Environmental Public
Policy, International Law and Organization, World Politics, American Government
and Introduction to Politics.
