Therefore, many of the things
that people have heard about being an organ donor are misconceptions, and
everyone should look at all of the possibilities that becoming a donor would
have.
Many other
people would say that they do not have time to fill out all of the forms it
takes to become an organ donor or they don’t want to go through all of the
hassle. In reality, to become an organ
donor, all you have to do is sign an organ donor card and carry it around with
you at all times. This is just a small
card that simply states that you wish to donate your organs and that you have
shared this decision with your family members. An important part of becoming a donor is informing
your immediate family of your decision.
If you do die, then the next-of-kin is asked for permission to donate
your organs, therefore, this is an important thing to do. Also, sign your driver’s license on the back
and put a sticker on the front that says “organ donor”.
You can get even more information about your
license at your local motor vehicle department which will give you more
detailed instructions.
After
going through the emotions you do when you know that one of your closest
friends is moments away from taking their last breath, and then finding out
that she has another chance at life, I am a different person. I have a different opinion of organ donating
for one thing.
