Visitor Center FAQ

Where do I park when visiting the University of KY?

Parking instructions will be sent to you via email.  If visiting on a Monday-Friday, please park in Structure #5.  The street address for Parking Structure 5 is 409 S Limestone St. Lexington, KY 40508. Weekend parking is in the Student Center/Stoll Field lot.

Who are the Campus Visits geared towards?

Campus visits through the Visitor Center are geared towards prospective undergraduate students and their families. Prospective graduate or professional students are encouraged to contact the particular schools with which they are interested.

How long will the entire visit last?

The information session runs 30-45 minutes long, and is followed by a 90-minute walking tour. You should allow approximately two hours for your visit.

Can I visit an adviser in a department or special program?

Yes, advisers are available in every academic college as well as in programs such as Honors, ROTC, Undergraduate Research, UK Bands, and Study Abroad. Be aware that some colleges only offer open houses on certain dates and some also limit their availability to certain days of the week. Please make your reservations at least two weeks in advance. Can I sit in on a class?

Yes, please explore our visit a class page to find schedule a class that fits into your itinerary. Please schedule at least two weeks ahead. If your interests are not represented by our current selections, please contact our Associate Director, Joshua Palmer, at 859-257-3547 or to shadow one of our student employees in a class that is more suited towards you.

How early should I make reservations with the Visitor Center?

Please reserve your visit as early as possible, preferably two-three weeks in advance. Guests will receive a confirmation email shortly after registration yet only receive a letter in the mail if they register two weeks in advance.

What if the available dates don’t work with my schedule?

If you are unable to make it to campus while the Visitor Center is open, you are welcome to download the Self-Guided Tour , or use our online version via GoogleMaps.

Can I participate in an overnight visit?

Unfortunately, UK does not provide accommodations for an overnight stay on campus. If you need hotel accommodations, please visit our Travel Information page to find lodging close to campus.

What do we do in case of inclement weather?

Tours will be given rain or shine. In case of snow or ice, please call the Visitor Center before coming to campus. Please dress appropriately because it is an outdoor, walking tour of campus, and unfortunately, we do not provide rain gear. 

What if I need to cancel a reservation?

If you are unable to make your appointment, please give us a call as soon as you know that you will not be here. This allows us to make those spots available to other students.

Can I turn in an application during my visit?

Yes. You can leave your application with one of the Visitor Center Directors or take it to the admissions office while on campus.

Is it ever too early in a high school career to make a college visit?

No. The earlier you start looking at colleges the more time you will have to make an informed decision. We welcome visitors of all ages.
