Transfer Students
The University of Kentucky categorizes transfer applicants by the following types:
- Transfer with 23 or fewer hours of college work since high school graduation
- Transfer from another institution with 24 or more semester hours earned or in progress
Deadlines
Fall: August 1
Spring: December 1
Summer I (May): April 15
Summer II (June/July): May 15
How Courses Transfer
The University of Kentucky has over 400,000 established course equivalencies from institutions across the United States. Use the Transfer Equivalency Database to learn more about how your courses will transfer to the University of Kentucky. Please refer to the Transfer Equivalency Guide to learn more about the transfer equivalency process at the University of Kentucky.
Students transferring to the University of Kentucky may be required to provide course descriptions or course syllabi of all transfer work for advising and registration purposes.
You may also use CAS, the Course Applicability System to run a degree audit to determine how your transfer work would complete requirements for your program at UK.

Requirements
- Transfer applicants with 23 or fewer semester hours earned or in progress must submit the following:
- Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Test Scores: Official results for either the ACT (American College Test) or the SAT I (Scholastic Assessment Test) must be submitted. Student copies, high school report copies, or scores from high school transcripts will not be accepted.
- Transcripts:
- Submit a complete official high school transcript including the date of graduation.
- An official transcript must also be submitted from each college or university attended even if no credit was earned.
- Non-Refundable Application Processing Fee: Attach $50 in cash, check, or money order made payable to the University of Kentucky. Full-time UK employees who submit a copy of their UK staff card are not required to pay the application processing fee.
- Transfer applicants with 24 or more semester hours earned or in progress must submit the following:
- Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Transcripts: Official transcript from each college or university and high school attended.
- Non-Refundable Application Processing Fee: Attach $50 in cash, check, or money order made payable to the University of Kentucky. Full-time UK employees who submit a copy of their UK staff card are not required to pay the application processing fee.
