Cadiz, Kentucky

Cadiz, the seat of Trigg county, is located near the center of the county on the Little River and US 68. The area was settled late in the eighteenth century and the town was established in 1820 to provide the county seat, although it was not immediately accepted as such. The origin of the name is obscure. The Cadiz post office opened in 1821. The population in 1990 was 2,148.
