The Hammer International Book Arts Biennale has been established to
honor Carolyn and Victor Hammer, and their legacy to fine printing.
Every other year a distinguished scholar or book artist of international
reputation will be invited to the Margaret I. King Library at the
University of Kentucky to lecture on printing, typography, illustration,
bookbinding, graphic design, or some other aspect of the graphic arts.
A keepsake for each lecture in the continuing series will be printed at
the King Library Press, and will feature one of Victor Hammer's
engravings, line-cuts, or wood-cuts.
An endowment fund has been established through the King Library Press,
founded by Carolyn Hammer in 1956, which strives to continue the fine
press tradition of Victor and Carolyn Hammer. Gifts to the Hammer Biennale
Fund are most welcome.
