Community-based Research Education in Eastern Kentucky

Each year, CREEK students play a substantial role in a research study, either as a principle investigator or as a member of the research team. In the fall semester, students design their studies and seek approval for the research design from the Institutional Review Board established to protect human subjects in research. In the spring semester, the studies are completed and students write up the results in the form of a scientific paper. The papers on this page describe studies carried out by CREEK-affiliated students and their research colleagues. CREEK makes these papers available so that the information can be used to reduce health disparities in central Appalachia. Please be sure to give appropriate credit to the author(s) if you choose to use their ideas or any portion of their papers in your own work. All papers are copyrighted but the information may be used as needed to improve community health. The APA citation for each paper can be found on its title page.
