Haven

At the University of Kentucky, we care about the well-being of all students. We know that you face many opportunities and challenges as you navigate campus life.
To support your well-being as a student and to strengthen the overall campus community, UK offers a variety of prevention initiatives including Haven, an online violence prevention curriculum. We believe this program will both provide useful information to students and help us shape a safer campus community.

How do I access the Haven program?

During the week of January 26, you will receive an email giving you specific directions for logging on to Haven. You will need to complete Part 1 of the courses, which takes about 45 minutes to finish. This process may be broken down into multiple sessions but must be completed by February 25th. Once you have completed Part 1, there will be a 45 day waiting period and then, you will receive an automated e-mail asking you to complete Part 2, which will take about 15 minutes. You have not completed the program until both Parts 1 and 2 have been submitted. Students who do not complete both programs will have an academic hold placed on their account and will not be able to register for the coming semester until the training has been completed.

What technical information do I need to know?

To take the course, you will need a computer with internet access and audio capabilities. The preferred browsers for this program are Chrome and Firefox. If you do not have access to a computer, you can use any available computer with internet access such as those at your public library. On-campus computer labs are available to you as well. For problems with linkblue accounts, please contact 218-HELP (4357) or email 218help@uky.edu.

Why do I have to take Haven?

Federal law requires that colleges and universities make students aware of policies and resources related to sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence. UK has chosen Haven as a tool to ensure students receive this information.

Can my advisor remove my hold?

If you did not complete part 1 by the deadline above, a hold will be placed on your account. VIP staff check the status of student completion daily and remove holds by the end of the following business day. Advisors are not authorized to remove these holds.

Will my information be private?

Please note the courses may include surveys to help personalize your experience and measure your attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see any individual student's answers.

Is this program only at UK?

UK has partnered with EverFi, whose mission is to help students address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse prevention, sexual assault prevention and financial literacy, in high schools and higher education institutions across the country. Each year over half amillion students complete these courses. Recognized nationally for its effectiveness, Haven uses the latest prevention techniques and science-based research to educate students about the impact of sexual violence.

What if I have more questions?

If you have an academic hold, questions about the program or problems accessing the course, please contact us at VIPCenter@uky.edu or 859-257-2884.
