Violence Intervention Prevention Center
Haven timeline of online program.

Haven and AlcoholEdu will not go active until Monday, July 18, 2016.

The University of Kentucky takes student health and safety very seriously. One of the most important components of maintaining a healthy and safe environment is prevention.

To assist with your transition to UK, we offer a variety of prevention initiatives, including Haven and AlcoholEdu. These are two separate online programs that will provide you with useful information to help shape a safer campus.

Haven is administered by the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center.

AlcoholEdu is administered by the Office of Wellness Initiatives for Student Empowerment (WISE).

Why do I have to take Haven?

We believe this program will both provide useful information to students and help us shape a safer campus community. Federal law requires that colleges and universities make students aware of policies and resources related to sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence. UK has chosen Haven as a tool to ensure students receive this information.

Can my advisor remove my hold?

If you did not complete part 1 by the deadline above, a hold will be placed on your account. An automated system checks the status of student completion daily and typically removes holds within 24 hours. Advisors are not authorized to remove these holds.

Will my information be private?

Please note the courses may include questions to help personalize your experience and measure your attitudes and behaviors. All responses are confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see any individual student's answers.

Is this program only at UK?

UK has partnered with EverFi, whose mission is to help students address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse prevention, sexual assault prevention and financial literacy, in high schools and higher education institutions across the country. Each year over half a million students complete these courses. Recognized nationally for its effectiveness, Haven uses the latest prevention techniques and science-based research to educate students about the impact of sexual violence.

I'm a survivor and am concerned about taking this course. What should I do?

This program, and the pages it links to, contains information and content related to sexual assault, stalking and/or violence that may be triggering to survivors.
If you are in need of support or have concerns that the content may be triggering for you, please contact the VIP Center at with the subject "Haven support/triggering" or call the Center at 859-257-2884 before starting the program or at any point while completing Haven and a staff person will assist you. Communication with the VIP Center is confidential.

What if I have more questions?
