What’s College For?: Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
Study Room 1, Lucille Little Fine Arts Library
Monday, September 11, 2017 - 12:00pm
Workshop concludes at 1:15. NB: this is a graduate student workshop.
The landscape of higher education is shifting with decreasing financial support from state governments, rising tuition, more reliance on adjunct faculty, and a continued focus on online course and degree offerings. These shifts have led many to ask, “What is the purpose of a college education?” In this workshop, we will explore this question. Participants will be encouraged to think about how they perceive the role of higher education in society and how their roles in the classroom facilitates and advances the purpose (as they see it) of a college education.
