Shari Dutton receives CAFE Outstanding Staff award

The Department of Horticulture’s Shari Dutton, staff horticulturalist, has received the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s 2014 Outstanding Staff Award in the Executive/Administrative category. Shari is a highly competent horticulturist and maintains the plant teaching collection at a very high level. The collection is quite diverse and serves not only the needs of the Horticulture teaching faculty, but is also utilized by faculty from other departments including Plant and Soil Sciences and Forestry. Shari assists in teaching PLS 220 (Introduction to Plant Identification), PLS 320 (Woody Plant Identification), PLS 514 (Grass Taxonomy and Identification) and the greenhouse portion of PLS 525 (Greenhouse Floral Crop Management). Shari’s other duties include acting as co-advisor for the undergraduate Horticulture Club by attending each club meeting and providing leadership for club activities, and working jointly with staff at The Arboretum to produce bedding plants for trial gardens.
