López publishes paper

The Department of Horticulture's Dr. Carlos Rodríguez López has published a paper in the journal Horticulture Research. Kiflu Tesfamicael, research analyst in Lopez's group is the leading author. The manuscript titled "Accumulation of mutations in genes associated with sexual reproduction contributed to the domestication of a vegetatively propagated staple crop, enset" studies the effect of domestication on enset genome. The authors used Amplified Length Polymorphism analysis and Next Generation Sequencing to characterize the genomes of 230 wild and domestic enset accessions in order to understand how domestication affects crop genomes.
