UK's life insurance carrier, Aetna, has partnered with Everest, a funeral planning and concierge service, to provide pre-planning and at-need funeral assistance. If you are a regular full-time employee, you, your spouse, your children (26 years and younger), your parents, and your spouse's parents are eligible to access this service either on-line or by phone 24 hours a day.

Lexington-Fayette County Government Aging Services

Program sites include the Lexington Senior Center, Charles Young Center and the Black and Williams Center. Their mission is to serve the seniors in the community by creating an atmosphere that acknowledges the value of human life, individually and collectively and affirms the dignity and self-worth of older adults. The Lexington Senior Center will host a session on December 9 with Attorney General Andy Beshear about scams and what you can do to protect yourself. Click here for more info.

Residential Care Options

Deciding to move out of one's home and into a different type of housing is often a difficult decision for elders or people with disabilities and their caregivers. However, there often comes a time when moving someone to a residential care facility may become the most realistic way to provide the best care, and the only way to relieve a caregiver's overwhelming burden. This information was presented at the UK Elder Care Lunch & Learn on February 28, 2017.
