This fall, the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute will work with the University of Kentucky Asia Center to offer a series of four seminars on China:
Chinese Religions and Philosophies
Modern Chinese History
These four one-day seminars, presented by scholars in the field, are designed to enrich your knowledge of these topics in preparation for their integration in your classrooms.
While you may choose to attend one or more of these seminars, teachers who attend all four sessions during the year will be eligible to apply for a fellowship to join a two-week study tour to China organized and subsidized by the UK Confucius Institute. The fellowship covers all the expenses for two weeks in China. Participants will need to cover the international airfare and the visa application fees.
Another benefit for attending these seminars is to receive teaching materials for these topics. Books in the above mentioned four areas will be thoughtfully selected by the presenting scholars and purchased by the Confucius Institute. Each participant will be given a set of these “course books” for their classroom use.
