Education Abroad hosts #blueabroad week

To promote international education opportunities to UK’s entire student population Education Abroad at UK is hosting a weeklong series of events throughout campus titled, “#blueabroad week."

The events will take place during the week of January 28 – February 1 (see the full event schedule below) to highlight the range of international education opportunities, scholarship opportunities and how education abroad can enrich a student’s education goals without adding time to graduation.

Seth Riker, promotion and outreach coordinator at education abroad, shares his past experience as a study abroad student in Chile:

“As a first generation college who was on a PELL grant I know how expensive college can be, let alone an international airline ticket. While there may be obstacles, we are here to help make it happen for everyone."

In his position, Riker promotes all things international education. "It’s frustrating to hear UK grads, or soon to be grads talk about education abroad as an afterthought like ‘Oh, yeah.  I should have done that.”

Riker explains that #blueabroad week aims to “touch” a wide variety of UK students. “And if we missed anyone Monday through Thursday, I hope to see them at our Friday Open House.”
