At the University of Kentucky, students have the opportunity to pursue a number of exciting opportunities to further develop their international knowledge and skills. Education Abroad at UK offers hundreds of study abroad, research abroad and intern abroad programs all around the world. Increasingly, students may also pursue teaching abroad and service learning programs.
Study abroad programs offer students the opportunity to enroll in academic coursework abroad that complements coursework here at UK. Programs range in length from a couple of weeks to a full academic year, and are offered during each term including winter and summer intersessions.
Research abroad programs allow students to conduct research at some of the world's top research institutions or conduct independent research in the field. Notable programs include EuroScholars and SIT Study Abroad. Students should contact the UK Office of Undergraduate Research for additional information and funding opportunities.
Education Abroad at UK offers dozens of programs through which students can have an international internship. Students can choose among full-time internships over the summer or enroll in hybrid study abroad programs during the academic year that integrate both academic coursework and internship opportunities. Students generally earn UK internship credit
Through the Consortium on Overseas Student Teaching (COST), students can now do their student teaching abroad. An increasing number of other programs allow students to fulfill degree requirements abroad.
In partnership with Experiential Learning Abroad Programs (ELAP) and other notable programming, students can participate in international service-learning projects that earn academic credit here at UK.
