UK Engineering Senior Helps Design a Future for Ugandan Students

Lexington, Ky. (March 13, 2015) — "Despite how challenging of a major or career it is, it's worth it to me because I know it's going to make other people's lives better," said Jonathan Kellogg, a senior at the University of Kentucky.
 
The path he chose: civil engineering, which affects everyone, every day (think about the pavement you drive on, the water you drink, the air you breathe).  
 

Experience in Ecuador Motivates Student to Pursue Career in Renewable Energy

Josh Crabtree, a senior at UK, recently spent the Fall 2014 semester studying international business in Quito, Ecuador, through the University of San Francisco de Quito exchange program.
 
“I did not have any stories or expectations to bring along, so this experience was new to me,” said Crabtree.
 
Crabtree is currently studying finance with an international business and Spanish minor.
 

UK Woman's Club Sponsors Education Abroad Scholarship

The UK Woman’s Club (UKWC) collaborated with University of Kentucky Education Abroad to create an education abroad scholarship for full-time undergraduate and graduate students at UK.
 
Students must be Kentucky residents with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and demonstrate financial need in order to qualify for the scholarship. Preference is given to nontraditional or underrepresented minority students.
 

Education Abroad Scholarship Workshop


The Education Abroad Office will host the Scholarship Workshop on Tuesday, February 16th from 4:30 to 7:00 pm in The Hub (basement of William T. Young Library).

This workshop features four different rotating sessions:

Spanish immersion prepares UK student for career in Journalism

Ashtin Morgan, a Junior at UK, has just returned to the U.S. after a fall semester spent in Spain through the Carlos III University of Madrid program.
 
“When I found a program that had courses for both of my majors, there I was,” said Morgan.
 
She is double majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish.
 
“I took two English and two Spanish courses,” said Morgan.
 

KIIS Study Abroad Celebrates Its 40th Anniversary

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) will mark its 40th anniversary by awarding one student a KIIS program scholarship at the KIIS student orientation on April 11, 2015 in Bowling Green, KY. In addition, KIIS will host an appreciation reception on the evening of April 10th for faculty and professional staff who have been involved with KIIS over the past 40 years.
 

A Night of Service

University of Kentucky Education Abroad and International Studies Abroad (ISA) are working together on a collaborative service-learning project at the International Book Project in Lexington.
 

Re-Entry Sessions

UK Education Abroad will hold five Re-Entry (Welcome Back) sessions on campus. All students enrolled in ISP 599 are required ONE of the following sessions, all of which will take place in the Room 203 of The 90  at the below specified times.
