ITS Division: Academic Technologies & Faculty Engagement

Service Area: Learning Management

What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

Our group works with students, faculty, and staff providing technological service support for academic technology services, including: Canvas, Learning Management Systems, Zoom Conferencing and Digital Measures. We also give educational presentations around campus to aid in the adoption of our services. Recently we partnered with The College of Education hosting a  Zoom Conferencing workshop in the Young Library to answer questions and demonstrate features. We also held a workshop in partnership with UK Healthcare to help research groups collaborate from different countries.

What campus units do you collaborate with?

We collaborate with several campus units, including the faculty, students, and College IT Representatives. We offer faculty one on one sessions on how to use a specific technology. For students, we offer one on one sessions on how to use our LMS systems after their instructors assign assignments. We work with College IT Specialists to give details of back-end system capabilities, through these relationships we're able to serve our students and faculty.

What are your workplace values?

Accountability,  we must own our responsibilities to meet the needs of our students. Whether that is learning a new program, or fixing a problem the student comes first. I value integrity and honesty because we must provide information about the issues. We have to let students and faculty know the good and the bad of the programs we use.

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

I love being able to work on a lot of different things which are important to the University. I also enjoy teaching faculty how to utilize technology in the classroom and show them the limitless opportunities it supplies for the students to learn.
