Service Area: Student Technology/Classroom/ AV Support Services


What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

We offer classroom AV support, often with the instructors in the room. We have a lot of contact with faculty and students. We assist with video projectors, cameras, computers, and control systems for classrooms. Every classroom has a control system of some sort, and our team ensure that those systems are running properly. 

What campus units do you collaborate with?

We support classrooms in the central part of campus, including White Hall Classroom Building, Sanders Hall, Patterson Hall, and the Mining and Minerals Resources Building. We're typically supporting about 20 buildings. Many of our dorms also include classrooms, so we work in dorms as well. We also collaborate with the Registar's Office for equipment funding. 

What are your workplace values?

We want to do the best job we can and offer the best support to our customers. Our #1 priority is to make sure classes take place no matter what. We want to help the students and faculty succeed. Ideally we are transparent and we fix problems before they happen.

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

I've worked for UK for 43 years, always in a technical support role. For all 43 years, I've worked in White Hall Classroom Building. I enjoy working in a technical field and it's always been an exciting challenge. I like making things work, and our work is well appreciated. Sometimes a class can't happen unless we fix things, and it's nice to know that we've done something good and helped somebody else.
