Buses & Shuttles
Over 40,000 people come to the University of Kentucky campus each day. Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) helps people get around campus once they are here, as well as providing rides within Lexington and beyond for several special shuttles. The following pages will detail these services.
The Campus Area Transit System (CATS) fleet consists of eighteen buses that support four routes serving the campus core during the fall and spring semesters as well as the Medical Center Shuttle, which operates year-round. This system provides over 750,000 rides per year to the campus community. This page also includes information on the Stadium Route provided by the Lexington Transit Authority (Lextran) and subsidized by PTS. Students wishing to learn more about Lextran’s off-campus routes may visit the Lextran web site, where they may purchase a student Class Pass.
PTS offers several seasonal shuttles throughout the year. These include the free Holiday Shopping Shuttle and the free shuttle to Blue Grass Airport at the start of the fall, semester and spring breaks.
At the start and end of all academic breaks, PTS offers students an alternative way to travel on the Ride Home Express. This charter bus service operates three routes serving 15 cities, within a six-hour radius of UK. Round-trip tickets start at just $55.
All intra-campus buses and shuttles are provided free of charge to UK students, employees and visitors.
