CATS

The Campus Area Transit System (CATS) fleet consists of eighteen buses that support four routes serving the campus core during the fall and spring semesters as well as the Medical Center Shuttle, which operates year-round. These buses are small and maneuverable allowing for more reliable service to the campus interior. During the summer months, Parking and Transportation Services operates a special summer route that provides service to the entire campus. These routes may be viewed by clicking on the above links.

Lextran

Transportation to the campus periphery is supplied through an agreement with the Transit Authority of Lexington, Kentucky, or Lextran. These buses are city coaches that are larger than the CATS fleet buses, and they are therefore able to transport a larger volume of people to locations along the campus perimeter. These routes operate between 7:00 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters with primary service to Commonwealth Stadium, UK Medical Center, Washington Avenue, Administration Drive, and Taylor/Dickey buildings. Check the Lextran website for information concerning city bus routes.
