Volunteers Needed for Campus Bicycle Census
The University of Kentucky Bicycle Advisory Committee is seeking volunteers to collect data for a campus bicycle census to be held Wednesday, October 16. The campus bicycle census will document changes in bicycling numbers and behaviors over time; the study was first conducted in 1998, and then repeated in 2008. After completion, this study will validate infrastructure improvements made over the last decade and facilitate future improvements.
Participating in the campus bicycle census is a great experience for anyone in the community – a service-learning or research experience for students, service to the University for employees or simply a way for everyday cyclists to give back to the community and improve the future of cycling in Lexington.
Volunteers are asked to cover, at minimum, a two-hour shift. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 9. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Eric Marinello at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hour-long training sessions for volunteers will be held on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m. in 363 Student Center and on Friday, October 11 at 5:30 p.m. in 357 Student Center. Refreshments will be provided for student volunteers.
