PTS Offers Special Holiday Parking Passes

University of Kentucky Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) is offering those UK students concerned about leaving their vehicles out in the elements during the semester break peace of mind. PTS is providing students with the opportunity to store their vehicles in Parking Structure #5, located on South Limestone next to Kennedy Book Store, from Monday, Dec. 12 through Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012.

To obtain a holiday parking pass, students should visit the main PTS office, located in Parking Structure #6, at the corner of Press and Virginia Avenues, or the Parking Structure #5 office, located on the first floor and facing Limestone. Passes are available only to students with a valid UK parking permit; the passes will be issued at no cost, and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning on Thursday, Dec. 1, with a maximum of 200 passes issued.

Students should access the garage by pulling a visitor ticket from the ticket dispenser. The holiday parking pass must be clearly displayed on the dashboard.

Upon returning to campus, students should bring their holiday parking pass to the Parking Structure #5 office, to be exchanged for an exit pass.

Vehicles not removed by close of business on Tuesday, Jan. 10 will be charged the hourly parking rate starting at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11 through the exit time and date.

PTS, SGA Team Up To Offer Free Holiday Shopping Shuttle

Two campus groups are working together to make holiday shopping easier for students. PTS, with support from Student Government, will provide free shuttle service between campus and Fayette Mall on Sunday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.

The shuttle will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each Sunday, with daily campus pick-up times of 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Passengers will be picked up at the north side of the mall, near the entrance to Macy’s, at 12 noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and returned to campus.

To schedule a pick-up (limited to campus only), email the following information with the subject “Holiday Shopping Shuttle” to by noon on Friday, December 2 or Friday, December 9, respectively.

A PTS representative will call to confirm a pick-up time and convenient location.

Riders can track the Holiday Shopping Shuttle via Cat Tracker, PTS’ real-time GPS-based bus locating system at or with the free Transloc iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps.
