Reminder to Employees - Remember to Switch Permits

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) would like to remind employees that most 2011-12 E parking permits expire on Saturday, March 31. Be sure to double check the expiration date of your current permit.

If you have applied for but not yet received your new permit, please contact PTS at (859) 257-5757 or UKParking@lsv.uky.edu. You may stop by the Parking Structure #6 office, located at the corner of Press and Virginia Avenues, to pick up a temporary permit.

The 2012-13 University of Kentucky parking permit features a number of both physical and functional changes from previous years’ designs. Most important to note from a functional standpoint is that the gate access barcodes have been moved to the back of the permit only. This allows for a larger surface area on the front to support the new design, while also enabling the permit number to be more visible on the permit. Employees and retirees parking in gated lots and structures should be sure to swipe the permit with the barcode facing up. Permits should be displayed with the photo facing forward.

The permit design in previous years consisted primarily of a solid color featuring a small image related to UK or to parking in general. In the past, the color for each user group changed from year to year. The 2012-2013 parking permit incorporates a photo that helps to showcase the University throughout Central Kentucky and beyond. The colors for each user group are now assigned to that group permanently, and will be integrated into campus parking maps in the future. To clearly differentiate each year’s permit, the photo will change yearly. This year’s permit features Memorial Hall.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
