Lextran Offers Free Rides Thurs. for Dump the Pump Day
On Thursday, June 21, Lextran will join other public transportation systems across the country to participate in the Seventh Annual National Dump the Pump Day. National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation and save money, instead of driving a car.
According to the American Public Transit Association, a two-person household that downsizes to one car can save – on the average – about $10,000 a year. A single commuter switching his or her commute to public transportation can reduce a household’s carbon emissions by 10 percent and up to 30 percent if he or she eliminates a second car.
All trips on Lextran and on American Red Cross WHEELS will be free on Dump the Pump Day. Lextran will also be distributing reusable tote bags to riders.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
