Portion of University Drive to be Closed August 4-5

Due to complications from the thunderstorms in Lexington last weekend, the utility work on University Drive previously scheduled for July 28-29 has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5. The construction is to facilitate electrical service to the New Central housing area.

Near the intersection with Huguelet Drive, the existing northbound lane will be divided into two lanes to accommodate traffic flow. Traffic may still travel south on University Drive from Hilltop Avenue by following detour signs.

In order for one side of University Drive to contain two lanes of traffic, no parking will be permitted along the right side of the road during the work. Bike lanes will also be closed during this time period.

As always, construction is weather-dependent and the timetable may change.

Temporary Closure of Section of Veterans Dr. on August 5

In order to facilitate a crane lift of an air handling unit to the VA Medical Center roof, the portion of Veterans Drive between Complex Drive and the Peter P. Bosomworth Health Sciences Research Building will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 5.

The project plans to maintain access to reserved parking in the area. However, disabled parking along Veterans Drive will be unavailable during the project. For a complete list of disabled parking spaces on campus, view the map at www.uky.edu/pts/parking-info_parking-maps.

As always, construction is weather-dependent and the timetable may change.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
