Good Samaritan Employee Parking Lot to Close Saturday

The Good Samaritan Hospital employee parking lot, located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, will permanently close at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012. This closure, initially announced in October, is to facilitate the next phase of the modernization of undergraduate housing. The lot has 130 employee parking spaces.

Entrances to the parking lot will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14. Vehicles remaining in the parking lot will have until 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 to move. Vehicles remaining in the lot after 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 may be issued a citation and impounded at the owner’s expense.

Employees who park on North Campus may continue to experience a shift in their daily commuting routines following the December 15 closure, and are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with parking alternatives and to allow extra time in their commute to work, particularly on Monday, December 17. Parking and Transportation Services (PTS), in cooperation with Facilities Management, is implementing a mitigation plan to offer some limited additional alternatives for north campus employee parking. Specifically, PTS will be increasing the number or availability of spaces in a number of north campus parking lots. As these mitigation projects will occur over the span of several months, it may be January, after the start of the spring semester, before routines are reestablished and parking availability becomes predictable.
