Developing a shiny cluster identification tool for epidemiology

2019
Completed Pilot Project

The goals of this project are to develop a secure online cluster detection system to examine the distribution of disease in relation to specific contextual and/or environmental risk factors. The Specific Aims for this project are as follows: 1. Create a secure online spatial analytic dashboard—the Shiny Cluster Identification Tool for Epidemiology (SCITE)—that allows users to access cluster detection software (e.g., SaTScan™) adapted to run on a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster, with pre-loaded population and exposure data, and 2. Conduct a population-based cluster analysis of hematopoietic cancers and agricultural glyphosate use in Kentucky using the SCITE system.
