Campus Bus & Shuttle Routes

Buses do not operate on a set time schedule. Instead, they operate on a headway system with continuous, frequent service. There's no need to learn complicated or confusing bus schedules - simply find the nearest bus stop and the next bus is never far away.

All campus routes - as well as off-campus Lextran routes - are viewable real-time on TransLoc Rider, UK’s GPS-based bus locating system. TransLoc Rider can be accessed at uky.transloc.com and via the free TransLoc Rider Android and iPhone apps. Additionally, you may send a text message to 41411 with UKY and the appropriate stop number to receive a message back listing the next three arrival times for that stop.

Lextran Campus Loop (Route 14)

The enhanced route (Lextran Route 14) now operates as two overlapping routes (Blue and White) travelling in opposite directions. The new bi-directional campus loop ensures that all areas of campus are less than a 5 minute walk from any bus stop and provides easy access in either direction so that students and employees arrive at their destinations faster than it would take to walk the same distance.

The Blue Route (Lextran 14) buses will run clockwise from Kroger Field to the west along Limestone, with its first stops at Cooper and Ag Science. The White Route (Lextran 14) buses will operate in a counterclockwise direction from the Stadium to the east along University toward the W.T. Young Library, with its first stops at Complex Drive and Huguelet Drive.

How to Ride Campus Buses

  • Buses are only permitted to stop at designated bus stops. Do not attempt to flag down the bus at other locations.
  • Look for the route name displayed on the front of the bus.
  • Wait to board until riders have finished exiting the bus.
  • To indicate that you need to depart the bus, pull the cord above the window or say "Next Stop" to alert the driver; be sure to do so with enough advance notice for the driver to safely come to a stop. Allow the bus to come to a complete stop before you stand to exit. Exit at the rear when possible.
  • If you have any questions about your trip, ask the driver.

Bus Service During Delays and Emergency Closures

In the event that the University is operating on a delay, closure or early dismissal, the campus bus service will follow the guidelines listed below. However, bus service operating during campus emergency closures and delays will be contingent upon campus conditions. Service may be interrupted due to imminent severe weather, road conditions, or at the direction of emergency officials. Any updates to service will be communicated in real-time on the TransLoc Rider app and at www.twitter.com/UKParking.
