The Developmental Disabilities Graduate Certificate program is housed in the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute. Students have the opportunity to conduct a research project, participate in a practicum, and work with individuals with developmental disabilities along with the individual’s family, to gain invaluable field experience.

A limited number of stipends up to $3,000 may be available to support students enrolling in this program! 

Admission Requirements 

  • Admission to the UK Graduate School 
  • A scholarly writing sample 
  • A 500-word personal statement indicating why you want to attain this certificate
  • Current resume/vita 
  • Two letters of recommendation (If not currently attending UK) 
  • Complete Graduate Certifcate Application form (link below)

Course Requirements 

HDI 600 - Interdisciplinary Approaches (2 credit hours)

HDI 602 - Interdisciplinary Supports (2 credit hours)

HDI 603 - Practicum (2 credit hours)

HDI 604 - Interdisciplinary Leadership Seminar (2 credit hours)


And, one elective of the following options: 
HDI 601 (2 credit hours)
HDI 605 (2 credit hours)
Or approved outside course
