Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes.

Master's Program Description

The mission of the Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training is to effectively prepare entry-level athletic trainers, who are life-long learners and servants to their communities, for employment and/or pursuit of advanced education by providing a comprehensive education in a collaborative, evidence-based, patient-centered environment that includes robust educational, scholarly, clinical, and service opportunities.

Master's Application Requirements

The Master's program in Athletic Training requires two separate applications for admission: the ATCAS application and the Graduate School application.  Both must be submitted for admission to the program.  Requirements for each application can be found here.

THE GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATION
  • CV (optional)
  • Current unofficial transcript from Bachelor's degree.
  • Application Open Date
    • July 1

Applicants must meet the Graduate School admission requirements.

Application Deadlines:

Summer: March 31

THE ATCAS APPLICATION

The ATCAS application is required to complete the application process

  • Personal Statement
    • The 1-page essay should summarize the applicant's interest in becoming an athletic trainer
  • Official transcripts of all completed coursework, verification of the prerequisite courses, and verification of 100 hours of observation.
  • Three letters of recommendation

The GRE is not required for admission into this program.
