Scheduling a Campus Visit

Please Read this Section Before Registering for a Tour

The Visitor Center asks all visitors to register online for an official campus tour. Some information sessions and tours, particularly in the months from September through April, fill up over three weeks in advance. For the benefit of all registered visitors, we limit the size of our tours. Open sessions will be visible on the registration calendar. Once a session is full, it will automatically be removed from the calendar. Should space become available due to cancelations, the session and tour will automatically be listed on the calendar.

Visitors who are not registered for an official campus tour will be provided with a copy of our self-guided tour and viewbook. Our Visitor Center staff is knowledgeable in admissions information and would be happy to answer questions you have before you begin your self-guided tour.

Before you visit the University of Kentucky, we invite you to take a virtual tour of campus. Explore campus, downtown Lexington, and our new residence halls from your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Our virtual tour follows a route similar to our own 90-minute walking tour and is led by two current Visitor Center Tour Guides.

Please note that the University of Kentucky is in the Eastern Time Zone.

Information Session and Official Campus Tour

The Visitor Center offers 30-minute information sessions followed by 90-minute campus tours every weekday at the University of Kentucky. The information session is designed to cover admission, scholarship, and housing information for prospective freshmen. (The Visitor Center also offers select transfer student sessions and tours each month; see below for more information.)

After your information session, you'll be led by a student tour guide on a 90-minute walking tour of campus. Your tour will include stops at William T. Young Library, the University's largest library; Jacobs Science Building; Haggin Hall, a suite-style residence hall that opened Fall 2015; The 90, a new dining facility; the Johnson Center, our largest recreation facility; and various other landmarks on campus. We tour rain, snow or shine, so dress comfortably!

Open Houses

Our open house events give high-schoolers the opportunity to explore their academic interests and interact one-on-one with current students, faculty, and staff from across the University of Kentucky. Learn more about what it means to be a “Wildcat”, explore student and academic life, and tour our beautiful campus in the heart of Lexington. Our "see blue." events are geared toward high school seniors, while May Day is suggested for any high school student wanting an early look at UK in their college decision-making process.

Learn more information here:

"see blue." Saturday on October 13, 2018

"see blue." Friday on November 16, 2018

Information about May Day will be available at seeblue.com/openhouse in the spring.

Weekday Visits

There's no doubt that the best way to feel the energy and excitement on UK's campus is to come see it for yourself. Some of the benefits of visiting on a weekday include:

  • Get the truest feel of life as a Wildcat when you visit while students are moving about between classes.
  • Dining facilities are open every weekday, so you don't need to walk far for your Starbucks fix.
  • Enrollment offices — Undergraduate Admission, Scholarships, Student Financial Aid — have walk-in hours every weekday.
  • Walk through various classroom buildings and colleges after your tour; most are open each weekday.

Weekend Visits

For the reasons above, we would prefer that every prospective student visit us on a weekday. Please understand that academic colleges and campus offices, including Undergraduate Admission, Scholarships, Housing, etc., are not open on Saturdays. We also understand that visiting on a weekday may pose challenges to some families, so we occasionally offer Saturday tours. We are hosting select Saturday tour options this fall, and the available dates are available on our registration calendar.

Prospective Transfer Visits

Our Transfer Student Sessions are 30-minute information sessions directly related to prospective transfer student admission, course equivalency, scholarships, financial aid, housing and more. Immediately following the information session, prospective students see campus with one of our Visitor Center tour guides. To see upcoming Transfer Student Sessions & Tours, click using the Schedule Your Tour Now! and look for the 'Transfer' designation.
