The Office of Residence Life is preparing for After Office Hours 2019! AOH will be on Wednesday, September 11th , from 5:00 pm -7:30 pm. One of the primary goals of the program is to show students that faculty and staff are interested in meeting with them, even after normal business hours to answer any questions, promote working partnerships, and encourage academic success.
We believe that you and members of your staff would be an excellent addition to one of our residence hall panels and your presence would be very much appreciated by both students and staff. Because of the timing of the program, we will provide dinner for all of our volunteers before the program begins and a student-led residence hall tour will follow. Please see the detailed event timeline below!
If you would like to participate and volunteer for AOH, please let us know by clicking on the volunteer link found below no later than Friday, August 30th. Once we receive your request to participate, you will receive a confirmation email with additional details about the event and your assigned residence hall location closer to the day of the event. Reminder: Students Declining Admission/Withdrawing from the Honors College
If you have an incoming FA19 student who wants to decline their admission to the Honors College, please ask them to fill out the form at this link (https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6QkiynuFe8RMjLD) and select “Yes, I am declining” on the landing page. This selection will be required for all FA19 students prior to August 19. All rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are currently in the Honors College will need to select the second option on the link’s landing page. After August 19, all Honors students will be considered “current” and our form will update to reflect this designation. The link for the withdrawal form will remain unchanged so that you can share this form with students at any point during the year.

Subject: Honors Common Reading Invitation for advising Network
Dear Friends of Honors,
This fall we are pleased to bring back the Common Reading Experience to Honors students at the University of Kentucky. The text selected is Tayari Jones’ novel An American Marriage (an Oprah’s Book Club selection and New York Times best seller), and we are excited to announce that she will be on campus giving the Keynote speech for the Bale Boone Symposium on October 2, 2019.
I am writing to invite you to participate as a Common Reading Facilitator at Lewis Launch, the Honors College fall orientation. We will have 42 group discussions (room assignments forthcoming) on Tuesday, August 20th, from 2:20-3:00 pm. (Please allow 5 – 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the session to get acclimated with the space.)
If you would be interested in leading one of these sections, there is a survey HERE where you can RSVP and inform of us of how you would like us to get a copy of the book to you. We will also have two voluntary facilitator training sessions (Thursday, August 15th at 10am-11am OR Wednesday, August 16th at 2pm-3pm in Lewis Hall, room 136U), and we will share a facilitator guide with discussion questions and in-class exercises. Thank you for considering leading a section and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Effective tomorrow, August 1st, The Registrar’s Office we will no longer accept paper tuition appeal applications. An online form has been created for students to complete if they are filing an appeal. They will be able to upload their supporting documents directly to the form. At this time, the website has been updated to include the new online form.
The Medical Documentation Form is still required for students who are seeking an appeal for medical reasons. The Medical Documentation Form and letter from the medical provider must be submitted directly from the medical provider to email@example.com or faxed to us.
We will still honor the paper appeals that have been turned in prior to August 1st. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
FYI. Please feel free to share as appropriate. It is sure to be a great experience with students services folks from a variety of areas in academic and student affairs at institutions across Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina (and usually even a few attendees from outside our Region 3).
