Updated: March 30, 2020 Events
As both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Governor have advised, in-person events will be canceled or postponed until the end of the semester. Organizations may continue to meet remotely when possible.
We are postponing Commencement to ensure the safety of our students and their families, as well as our staff and faculty who participate. There will be a Commencement to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our Spring 2020 graduating class; we will schedule it for a time when we are able to do so in a healthy and safe environment. We will communicate as soon as possible about next steps to ensure everyone involved can make travel plans.
This does not change the semester completion date for our students, nor does it affect the timeline for students earning their degrees. We are only postponing the graduation ceremony and public celebration.
Merit Weekends will be held virtually. For any commencement questions, please contact email@example.com.
For questions related to other university-sponsored events, please reach out to our Office of University Events at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Southeastern Conference announced that all regular season conference and non-conference competitions are canceled for the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic year, including all remaining SEC championship events, due to continuing developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
In addition, all spring football games are canceled and there will be no pro days conducted by SEC institutions.
The NCAA cancelled all remaining winter and spring championships, making the decision based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, the ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities. This will include men's and women's basketball tournaments; NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Championships and Zone C Diving Championships set to take place at UK this weekend; and the track and field, swimming and diving gymnastics, men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, softball and baseball championships in which UK teams were eligible to compete.
