We recently added a new source of testing data to our dashboard.

Over the summer, the Southeastern Conference began coordinating centralized testing through a third-party provider to ensure consistency in surveillance and pre-competition testing. These tests were PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests—the standard testing method for the COVID-19 virus and the type of test we require at UK.

Since Sept. 23, UK Health Corps has been receiving results for student athletes from the Southeastern Conference and its testing partner. To date, these have included all positive results to enable the appropriate contact tracing and communications. Beginning this week, we will also start receiving the negative result data from the SEC testing partner. This will enable us to provide the fullest picture possible of the testing being done across the UK student community.

These totals will be included in the “UK-Collected Totals To Date: Students” section on the dashboard and in the definitions of active cases, recovered cases and newly reported cases. Notes also will be adjusted to document the influx of SEC results in addition to results from Wild Health and our University Health Service.
