Request a Workshop or Interview

UKCC Workshop Request Information:

Outreach requests should be sent to the outreach coordinator, Dr. Megan Marks ( and copied to Connie Harrison ( Please complete the outreach request form here. In your request, we ask you to include the topic, location, date/time, and number of attendees expected. If you are unsure about the program you would like, we are happy to consult with you and create a presentation to fit your needs. In some cases, another UK department may be better equipped to serve you, e.g., the Career Center, UHS, etc., and we will refer you to the appropriate department.

We recommend that you make requests for outreach presentations as far in advance as possible. We are able to take requests for Fall Semester beginning in July. While we will make every effort to fulfill your request, we cannot guarantee that requests made with little advance notice (e.g., 1-2 weeks prior to the program) will be filled. Please note that our busiest clinical times of the academic year include October, November, February, and March. During those months, we have less flexibility in scheduling to conduct programs. If you are requesting a program during those months, we recommend contacting the center four to six weeks in advance. We will make every effort to accommodate your request and will contact you as soon as we have coverage for your event so that you can plan accordingly.

There may be limits on the number of presentations we can give to any one department per semester, so that we may reach as many people as possible throughout the campus and community. We are generally able to provide each presentation one time per department per semester, with the exception of UK 101, 110, 201, RA trainings, and orientations.

In the event of a cancellation due to staff illness, we will work with you to reschedule your program at a time that is convenient for you.

If you would like a program on Test Anxiety or Major/Career Decision-Making, we ask that you first consult the attached workshop schedule as these topics are offered throughout the semester on a drop-in basis (no appointment needed). If these dates/times do not fit with your schedule, we can schedule a workshop specifically for your students.

Interview Requests (Media as well as Class Assignments)

The UK Counseling Center wants to participate in interviews for media outlets and class assignments when schedules and circumstances permit. However, due to the nature of the confidential services we provide and because we represent the University of Kentucky, there is a process that must be completed before we can participate.

  1. Contact UK Public Relations and Marketing with your request (Ryan Girves at Please provide a list of anticipated questions so that UK Public Relations and Marketing can review your questions and so that the UKCC can prepare for the discussion.
  2. When you receive confirmation from UK Public Relations and Marketing via email, please forward that email to UKCC's outreach coordinator, Dr. Megan Marks ( and she will coordinate available staff to participate in the interview as soon as UKCC schedules allow.

Please note that this process may take several business days, so we suggest you submit requests with as much lead time as possible.

Reporters/students with interview requests may not show up to a workshop or group meeting without prior approval. If you do so without approval of UKPR and the UKCC, you will be turned away and asked to follow the above procedures. Thank you for your cooperation!
