Dr. Karen M. Butler is a Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Kentucky and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. Dr. Butler is a Faculty Associate in BREATHE (Bridging Research Efforts and Advocacy Toward Healthy Environments), an interdisciplinary group of researchers focused on tobacco control and lung cancer prevention. She is also the Deputy Director for UK-CARES (Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Sciences; P30 ES026529) Occupational/Environmental Health Nursing Training Program, Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center. Dr. Butler has a national presence in public/occupational/environmental health nursing. Her peer-reviewed work has been presented in national and international venues, as well as published in many high impact professional journals and two award-winning textbooks.
