Confidential Mixed Media

Mixed media recycling program is for the appropriate collection, destruction and recycling of electronic data storage devices that contain confidential information that needs to be destroyed, such as:

• hard drives
• flash drives
• CD’s and DVD’s
• floppy disks
• film
• data tapes

UK Recycling provides a locked container that is serviced once a month. The container needs to be placed in a secured room that locks after hours.

Hard drives are destroyed on site with a conical punch by our partner Shred It. UK Recycling then sends the destroyed hard drive to an electronic recycler.  All other data storage items are destroyed.

Certification of Destruction (COD) and a list of hard drive serial numbers is provided to each department ever time the container is serviced.

If your department has a large amount of data storage items, such as CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, that don’t contain confidential information, please contact the UK Recycling office, for a different way to recycle them.
