Our mission is to unify and represent graduate and professional students and postdoctoral scholars at the University of Kentucky in matters affecting our quality of life and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and professional development through seminars, forums, outreach programming, advocacy, and community enhancement.

RESS RELEASE: Graduate Student Congress Receives $100K Budget (7/24/2019)

The Congress is excited to announce that university administration has agreed to fund, through the Graduate School, a 2019-2020 operational budget for the GSC of $100,000, with incremental increases of $50,000 over the next three years to meet the goal of fully funding the Congress’s aspirational budget. ANNOUNCEMENT: Graduate Student Congress Raises over $10,000 to Support Graduate Student Research

The Congress is pleased to announce that their 2018-2019 Philanthropy campaign, the Graduate Student Awards Project, raised just over $10,000! All funds collected during the 2018-2019 Graduate Student Awards Project will be used to fund graduate student research and conference travel mini-grants which are competitive, monetary awards for conference travel and research needs. These awards are granted based upon merit and need. Participation in our awards program quadrupled over the course of the 2017-2018 academic year, and we expect this to continue. ANNOUNCEMENT: Graduate Student Congress Receives 2019 UK Student Organization of the Year Award

The Office of Student Organizations and Activities named The UK Graduate Student Congress as the 2019 Student Organization of the Year and recognized 2019-2020 GSC President Joel Klipfel as the 2019 Student Organization Member of the Year! Pictured is GSC President Emeritus James William Lincoln accepting these awards on the GSC behalf. They received the award because of their monthly program initiatives, work on mental health awareness, their philanthropy work, and their wide spread impact on University culture. ANNOUNCEMENT: GSC Ratifies Statement of Autonomy (Dec. 2018)
Under advisement from the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students and the representatives of the Graduate Student Congress, the Graduate Student Congress at the University of Kentucky is committed to ensuring a more equitable system of governance and is, therefore, issuing this Statement of Autonomy. We propose a separate autonomous organization with the following: 1) financial and legislative independence by gathering fees and decision-making power that has heretofore went to the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Student Activity Board (SAB) and 2) representative authority within the University equal to that held by the SGA
