External Affairs Committee
The External Affairs Committee (EAC) is tasked with monitoring and responding to affairs outside of the University's Administration that affects Higher Education. Encompassing both social justice and advocacy issues as well as legislative affairs at the local, state, and national levels, their responsibilities include drafting position statements on relevant issues, organizing town meetings and open forums, and meeting with University officials and legislators on behalf of graduate students at the University of Kentucky.
The Graduate Student Congress is a non-partisan democratically-elected governing body that represents all graduate students attending the University of Kentucky. Thus, we are obliged to take positions on issues that affect the well being of all graduate students. Any position taken by the Congress must abide by the principles outlined in our Advocacy and Legislative Platform (ALP). To ensure that we are doing our due diligence to these students, principles outlined in the ALP, which are ratified by Congress, must be inclusive of the diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, religious affiliations, and political ideologies that are represented within the graduate student population. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions for the ALP, please contact the External Affairs Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For further information, please consult the relevant by-law.
If you are interested in becoming involved in the EAC, please contact the External Affairs Officer.
