Information for Faculty

The Lewis Honors College is dedicated to bringing faculty and staff from across campus into the program to offer students instruction in every discipline on campus, both in and outside the traditional classroom.

Teaching an Honors Course

The Lewis Honors College seeks faculty to teach Honors courses that fulfill the objectives of UKCore, departmental Honors-designated sections of courses, or education abroad experiences. For more details, see the Guidelines for Teaching an Honors (HON) course or Departmental Honors Section or contact the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Czarena Crofcheck.

All faculty teaching an Honors course are considered Honors Faculty for the academic year in which they are teaching.

Mentoring Honors Student Research

All Honors students complete independent research to fulfill program requirements; the Lewis Honors College depends on the invaluable guidance of faculty to encourage and mentor undergraduate research. Faculty mentorship of undergraduate research is integral to the academic success of all Honors students. The Lewis Honors College relies on faculty partnerships to ensure that student work is of the highest caliber. Our goal is to prepare students to leverage their intellectual work for whatever path they pursue after leaving the University of Kentucky. For more details, see the various options for mentoring Honors student research or contact the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Czarena Crofcheck.
