Dr. Kim Tharp-Barrie is a nurse executive with 38 years of multi-site experience in acute and ambulatory not-for-profit health systems. She is a strategic and passionate operational leader with vision, operational acumen and a track record, with reputation of driving and sustaining change, achieving results and fostering strong affiliations, collaborations and partnerships through relationships. She has excellent team building skills with the ability to create winning care cultures to meet the needs of those being served. She currently serves as the System Vice President, Institute for Education & Development at Norton Healthcare. Louisville, Kentucky. Norton Healthcare is a five-owned hospital and seven regional affiliate hospital not- for-profit health system serving a large geographic area in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. It is the largest health system in Kentucky, has been recognized as a top 100 integrated health system by Verispan and as a national leader in transparency. The Norton Healthcare Institute for Education and Development is an integration of the former Norton University and Norton Healthcare Institute for Nursing. The Institute provides professional development, classes and educational experiences to help employees grow their skills and advance their careers. In 2014, Dr. Tharp-Barrie provided leadership in the nationally acclaimed UK College of Nursing and Norton Healthcare Academic-Clinical Partnership to educate 100 BSN prepared Norton nurses to earn DNP degrees and facilitate system-wide programs to reduce organizational costs and increase access to care. Dr. Tharp-Barrie provides didactic instruction and advisement for content expertise with finance, leadership and health policy for graduate students throughout the Commonwealth.
