Hello. I'm Jennifer Sherwood. Welcome to pre-Nursing. I studied Family Studies at Messiah College in beautiful Grantham, PA, and later went on to earn an M.A. in Counseling from the University of Maryland. In my professional career, I have worked in community mental health, at a national healthcare organization, and did psych assessments in a busy, urban ER. I have worked for UK since 2004 and have been an academic advisor since 2017, where I serve only pre-nursing students in the College of Nursing. I love being an advisor because it brings together the best of my strengths and training in a setting where I get to work with amazing, caring students. In this role, I also work with the Interprofessional Healthcare Residential College, assisting with screening applications, mentoring the peer mentors, and encouraging the IHRC pre-nursing students through interactions and teaching NUR 101.
On a personal note, I love to have adventures with my husband and our dogs. I am an avid listener of audio books; I have a bucket list of places I would like to see, and always feel torn between beaches and the mountains. I have two, married daughters and love empty nesting! Music and church are an important part of who I am - I especially love to sing harmony at church. I have lived in seven states, avidly recycle and upcycle, and like to play in my flower beds.
