    For over 80 years, intramural have been a staple of campus life at the University of Kentucky!

    Our evolving philosophy is to provide the University's students, faculty and staff with recreational events and experiences.  

    These events and experiences are grounded in the basic beliefs of FUN, FAIR, SAFE.

    Intramural Sports at the University of Kentucky are FREE (exception green fees for Golf)

    • FREE to all current students/faculty/staff        (exception green fees for golf tournament)
    • Equipment is supplied by the Intramural Sports Program for all sports         (exception golf tournament)
    • Participants and Teams who win championship receive an intramural championship shirt
    • Forfeit fee ($20) applies to team sports           (Spring 2023 exception sports offered March 20 - 23 and April 26 & 27)
      • Forfeit fee charged: Team no-show for scheduled game or team drops out of sport after schedule is posted
      • Teams can avoid forfeit fee by submitting an online default form (cannot play scheduled game) by 5pm game day deadline 

    Intramural sports offers a variety of opportunities to play and participants have choices! 

    • Drop-in events (show up and play)
    • Online registration: Opens online two weeks before start of sport & closes online 4 days before start date of a sport
    • Tournaments (1 day - 3 weeks)
    • Leagues (3 - 4 weeks)

    All currently enrolled students, regular and currently employed faculty and staff.

    For Co-Rec or Open events ONLY, spouses of currently enrolled students or currently employed faculty and staff may participate.

    The spouse must be on the same roster with their UK or BCTC spouse.  Spouses may not stand alone on a roster.


    BCTC student/faculty/staff:

    1. BCTC students/faculty/staff MUST pay “Recreation Fee” before participation

    2. BCTC students MUST meet the in-person/traditional in-class hours listed below to participate:

    In order to purchase fees a student must have 6 or more traditional in-class hours (not online) at the Cooper Drive or Winchester campuses.

    BCTC students with 12 hours of eligible courses who are dually enrolled at the home campus will also be eligible to purchase all services:

    • Cooper Drive for a minimum of 6 hours (not online) and at the Newtown Campus for a minimum of 6 hours (not online)

    3. BCTC student who meet the above class credit hours can pay the “Recreation Fee” by:

    • Calling the eStore office at 859-257-6159 (Monday - Friday between 8am - 4:30pm)
    • Online payment not currently accepted

    Each intramural team shall be permitted to have a maximum of two (2) current sport club members on its roster for the same or related sport.

    These club players must be noted on the roster card.



    Current and former collegiate varsity athletes are ineligible in to play in the sport they played at the varsity level and all related sports for one academic year or 365 days from their last varsity contest.

    To be eligible for a UK Intramural event that is related to the participant’s varsity sport:

    For the spring of 2023, a former varsity athlete participated in the fall of 2021

    For the fall of 2022, a former varsity athlete participated in the spring of 2021

    Former professional athletes are ineligible in the sport of their profession and all related sports but are eligible for all other non–related Intramural events.



    Valid UK and BCTC student‚ faculty and staff IDs are required to enter and participate in all UK Intramural events.

    All students are required to present their valid UK and BCTC student photo I.D.s.

    All faculty and staff are required to present either a: valid UK or BCTC faculty/staff photo I.D. or a valid UK or BCTC faculty/staff card and another form of photo I.D. such as valid driver’s license.

    For Co–Rec or Open events only‚ spouses of eligible students‚ faculty or staff must present a valid driver’s license in order to participate with their UK or BCTC spouse.
