Kentucky Wildcab

Kentucky Wildcab, UK's free, late-night on demand transportation option for UK students is now powered by Uber!

Through a first-of-its-kind partnership with Uber, UK Transportation Services has married Kentucky Wildcab's popular student-run ride-sharing service to Uber's familiar and proven technology platform.

How to Sign Up for Wildcab Access:

  1. Download the Uber app onto your smartphone and create an Uber account, if you don't already have one.
  2. Complete the Wildcab Uber enrollment form, which grants you access to the free Wildcab option. If you already have an Uber account, be sure to use the same email address connected to your existing account.

If you're creating a new Uber account, enter a form of payment -- credit, debit, etc. -- but know that Kentucky Wildcab remains free-of-charge and you'll only be charged if you choose a traditional Uber rideshare vehicle option instead of a Wildcab.

Once your UK student eligibility has been verified, Wildcab service will be enabled on your account and you can begin requesting Wildcab rides directly from the Uber app.

How it Works:

After selecting a pickup location and destination, you’ll be offered various ride options. If the request is within Kentucky Wildcab’s service area and during Wildcab’s service hours, Wildcab will appear as one of these options, allowing you to choose the free and familiar Wildcab service or instead opt for a paid Uber rideshare vehicle option.

Hours of Operation

Kentucky Wildcab runs Thursday through Saturday, from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., when fall and spring semester classes are in session. Average wait times are between 10 to 15 minutes; however riders may experience shorter wait times when demand is low and longer waits during peak demand. Once a ride has been requested, users will receive an alert notifying them when the cab is on the way and when their ride has arrived at the scheduled pick-up point. Kentucky Wildcab drivers will wait for three minutes before cancelling the ride and moving on to other requests. Students may be asked to show a valid student ID.

Where Can I Go?

The Kentucky Wildcab service area is limited to the general campus vicinity. The pre-established travel zone is designed to accommodate the majority of areas adjacent to campus frequented by students and is generally bounded by Clays Mill and Versailles Road to the west, Sixth Street to the north, Tates Creek to the east and Southland Drive to the south.

Kentucky Wildcab operates several ADA-accessible vehicles. Users requiring special accessible accommodations may contact the assistance number provided below.
