Donations for Citations

Donations for Citations

Starting on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 and running through Friday, March 11, 2016, Parking and Transportation Services will be holding a donation drive to benefit Big Blue Pantry. Customers may choose to donate non-perishable goods – including food and personal care items – and, in exchange, have one regular parking citation of $25 or less waived.

This pilot program will not only benefit the students who depend on Big Blue Pantry, but offer an alternative way for members of the campus community to pay one of their citations. Big Blue Pantry assists UK students who are experiencing food insecurity or hunger, and served over 100 students in its first year of operation. This donation drive will help their customers during a time of the semester when donations have historically been low.

Customers should bring donations to the Parking and Transportation Services office in the Press Avenue Garage (721 Press Avenue). The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Donation Guidelines

Customers may choose to donate either ten (10) non-perishable food items or five (5) personal care items to the Donations for Citations drive in order to have one regular citation of $25 or less waived.

The following non-perishable food items will be accepted: canned fruit, soups, cereal, instant oatmeal, pasta, beans, canned tuna or canned chicken, and nut butter. Expired, damaged or opened donations will not be accepted. Refrigerated items and glass containers will not be accepted.

The following personal care items will be accepted: shampoo, hand soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper (minimum size of 4 pack), toothpaste, shaving cream, razors, and feminine hygiene products. Expired, damaged or opened donations will not be accepted. Trial sizes of personal care items will not be accepted.

Am I Eligible?

Donations for Citations waivers are only valid for a regular fine of $25 or less. “Regular fine” does not include the following: immobilizations, impoundments, parking in fire lanes, disabled accessible parking violations or improper application or use of parking permits.

Customers may only have one eligible citation waived as part of the Donations for Citations drive. Customers with multiple unpaid citations must pay all other outstanding citations in order to have one waived under the Donations for Citations program. Citations waived through Donations for Citations are not eligible for appeal.

PTS has the right to revoke a customer’s participation in the Donations for Citations program at any time.
