Second Annual Donations for Citations Drive Begins Today

University of Kentucky Parking and Transportation Services is kicking off their second annual Donations for Citations drive today. During the donations drive, held today through Friday, March 10, customers may choose to donate non-perishable goods in exchange for having one regular parking citation of $25 or less waived. The donations benefit Big Blue Pantry, an on-campus resource dedicated to helping UK students experiencing food insecurity or hunger. The 2016 edition of Donations for Citations resulted in more than 2,500 pounds of donated food and personal care items for Big Blue Pantry.

Customers may choose to donate either ten (10) non-perishable food items or five (5) personal care items to the Donations for Citations drive in order to have one regular citation of $25 or less waived.

The following non-perishable food items will be accepted: canned fruit, cereal, instant oatmeal, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, jams and jellies, condiments, canned tuna or canned chicken, and nut butter. The following personal care items will be accepted: shampoo, hand soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper (minimum size of 4 pack), toothpaste, shaving cream, razors and tampons.

Customers should bring donations to the Parking and Transportation Services office in the Press Avenue Garage (721 Press Avenue). The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Donations for Citations waivers are only valid for a regular fine of $25 or less. Customers may only have one eligible citation waived as part of the Donations for Citations drive. Customers with multiple unpaid citations must pay all other fines before participating in Donations for Citations.
