Elaine A. Wilson

Elaine A. Wilson of Somerset, Kentucky, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work with an emphasis in community organization from UK in 1968. She received a Master of Science in social administration from Case Western Reserve University in 1970. She was president of the UK Alumni Association board of directors from 2014 to 2015, the first Black alumna to hold this office. She has been a Life Member of the UK Alumni Association since 1987. Active for many years with the Lake Cumberland UK Alumni Club, she served as secretary and treasurer, then as club president for three years. She continues to serve as a board member.
Wilson was a member of the UK Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2005. This tenure included membership on the UK Business Partnership Foundation Board, the UK Undergraduate Education Advisory Board, executive, academic affairs and human resources committees, the ad hoc committee on UK affiliate boards and a term as secretary to the board. Wilson serves as a member of the University of Kentucky Women and Philanthropy, UK College of Social Work Advisory Board, the Board of Directors, Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence board of directors, Kentucky School Boards Association, the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources and is a life member of the Friends of Kentucky Libraries. She received the Lyman T. Johnson Path Finder’s Award, the 2011 UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award, the Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence award, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Acts of Service Award from the City of Somerset, Kentucky. She is a UK Fellow, a graduate of Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber Leadership 2000 and served on the executive committee and board of directors for United Way of Kentucky.
