Fall 2020 Approved Changes to Senate Rules

The changes described below were approved by the Senate in Fall 2020. See each item for effective dates.

  • Gatton College of Business and Economics (Add New "Direct Admissions" Section) (PDF, effective Fall 2021)
    • The change creates a new admissions path for incoming, first-time freshmen who meet the admissions standards that will be published annually.
    • The complete SR language is on page 19 of the proposal but the SR references in the proposal are outdated. When the changes are officially codified, they will be added into Section 10.3.1.9, which lists other undergraduate admissions-related information for the Gatton College.

  • Retroactive Withdrawal Appeals (PDF, effective Fall 2021)
    • The changes include the following: notice of higher bar for "partial" withdrawals; removal of waiver language; clarification that I grades must be resolved prior to seeking an RWA; and new language to guide students who were last enrolled as an "undeclared" student. See the proposal for all changes.
    • The SR references in the proposal are slightly outdated but will be codified appropriately.

  • Undergraduate Certificates (PDF, effective immediately)
    • The change was deletion of the sentence below, from the section on Undergraduate Certificates.

"No more than nine credits taken for a certificate can be used to satisfy the requirements for the student’s bachelor’s degree, a minor, or another certificate, exclusive of free or unrestricted electives."

      .

    • There is now no limitation on the number of credit hours that are shared between a degree and an undergraduate certificate.
    • The SR references in the proposal are slightly outdated but will be codified appropriately.
